The silhouette slimmed down in 1908-1913 becoming more girl-like and hinting at trends to come. With 30 percent of young women working, style could cater to unmarried women -not only matrons. And how did they get that svelte silhouette? By wearing corsets. Here's a rust proof one. During WWI women donated their corsets to the war cause.
