More Letters From McGill Normal School--Marion Nicholson 1905-06
Marion Nicholson's 1908-1913 letters were, for the most part, 'all business', with only a few lines revealing her playful character and wicked sly sense of humour which she passed on to her daughter, my mother in law. For this reason I've decided to post her letters from McGill Normal School which are full of fun and reveal a lighter side of her personality. The picture above is very likely from Normal school and may be the picture described in one of the letters. Marion is second from the left. The picture below is an original published in the Montreal Gazette; Marion is receiving the first degree of the Order of Merit with some other teachers at the Ritz Carleton at the PAPT convention. .Apparently the Gazette Editor liked Marion. Upon her premature death in 1948, he wrote her an editorial page eulogy: "With the death of Marion A N Blair, the teaching profession in Quebec, indeed the whole Dominion, has suffered a serious loss."
