John McLeod, my husband's great great grandfather. Detail of crayon drawing. That's a photo, blown up and embellished with charcoal artistry. The scary expression, well, it's a Victorian Photograph. He had to hold this expression for some minutes. I have crayon pictures, very large, of his sister Catherine and brother Murdo  as well as his mom. The mom is old, dressed in black and has lots of strength in her gaze: looks to me like a wise 'man' of the bench.  This is taken from this tintype (daguerrotype?) of John and his wife. See how the artist cleaned him up?  If you are a descendant of Catherine McLeod or Murdo, send me an email.
