La Tuque
Dear Edith and Marion,
I wrote you Saturday morning before leaving for La Tuque. We arrived here at half past eleven, had a hot, dirty trip. Had to drive a mile to the hotel where we are boarding and the worst hills you ever saw. Where we boarded in Quebec was very nice. I thought I liked the cooking. This is not very nice and I don't think I will stay here very long and the flies just terrible and today has been very hot. Father is going down to Grand __ with me so I will go some day this week. I hope you are getting along all right. Father says to tell Mr. Ward to put the same glass in the parlor window, the same thickness, and to be sure to keep the cellar window screens shut, for the mice and rats will get in. The scenery is just beautiful here. I may go fishing or picking berries tomorrow.
Next day:
I walked about three miles today. I went to see the camp. Stayed for dinner. They had tomato soup, then roast lamb and roast pork with potatoes and dessert cake with peach preserves. Everyone was very nice. Father has not returned: he had to go out on line for about five miles, will not be back until evening. I only thing I worry about, is that you don't get your meals properly. You can't be well unless you eat. Order meat from Pope's.
Yours with love Mother
