Margaret to Marion
October 14, 1908
Dear Marion,
Your letter received. Contents noted. Well, you will be home for Thanksgiving and the time seems to pass quickly after all. I am thinking of going to Kingsbury Thursday night - after the Presbytery meets here. Will drive out with Mr. Sutherland this time. Flora and Leslie Ross are appointed delegates, also Mrs. Cleveland and Mrs. Denton. They leave the residence of Charlie Campbell at twelve, returning Friday afternoon. I got a card from J.R. McLeod saying he was coming Thursday. You know the Presbytery meets to consider Mr. Nichol's call to Ottawa. He will go but they must go through the form. This afternoon the missionary society met in the basement and had an address by Mrs. Kelloch which was very nice. The Kelloch's are not very cordial to me. Avoid me if they can and the others act as if they do not like to be too friendly when they are around. The service Sunday Night was very good and had to have chairs in the aisles and the Dr. preached much better than the morning. Monday night we made 80 dollars at our tea. Mrs. Beiber's solo was best I ever heard her sing and Dell Miller sang very nicely. On Sunday, Mrs. Angus Mc Bae sang in the morning. She has a nice voice.
Now, as regards the suits, I am sure you ought to make your blue one do this winter. I see Bert has her hat trimmed up higher. Looks well, it is just like your blue one. I hope you will see that Edith gets a pair of thick soled boots right away. I think I will go in with Father when he is going back to La Tuque and see about getting a suit for myself and one for Edith. She certainly needs something. That will be some time after the 26th. How are you getting on with your Tonic Solfa? I was talking to Mrs. B Gouin and she said your application was too late to get into the YWCA, but if you left it you might still get in.
Write me a huge letter,
Much Love Margaret.
Ps. Your letters are far too short. Shake Herb up. Why does he not write!!
