Margaret to Marion
Jan 20, 1909
Dear Marion,
Your letter received glad to hear you are feeling better. Could you skate and do you feel quite yourself? I don't think you will require any of the liquid medicine just the pills. However the Dr. said to let him know how you were feeling when you finished tell me and will see to him. I was shocked to see the account of the fire in the Witness Monday Night. Oh what blessing it happened before the school opened. Many have inquired if it is the school you are teaching at.
I received Edith's letter and the lace. Took it to Miss B. today. She will try and have it done Saturday. I really cannot lengthen her skirt as the pacing is all pieced. But will let it out at the hips and give it a good pressing. Or we can get more cashmere and fix it all over. I heard from Herb. He says he has no time to go home.
Has not the weather been something terrible? Just keeps me putting wood in the furnace. Today school opened. There are not new cases of diphtheria. Isabella has tonsillitis. Flora has a cold. Mae went home Thursday, has not returned so we are having a quiet time. I had a letter from Father, he is 50 miles farther up than when I was there. Says it was 52 below on the twelfth, worse than here. Edith tells me Nellie Reid had a daughter, she will make a fine young mother. Did you have a good time at the Dr's? I think you are looking very gay going to Man in the Box at the Nickel.
Did I tell you that Bert Cross who married the Caswell girl have separated and broken up housekeeping. Sold everything. Went back to his mother. She is at her Father's. She blames his people for interfering.
Oh my dear, I must congratulate you on taking such high marks. Now you must try and take things easy.
Hoping to hear from you,
Your loving Mother
