What will "Billy" say about votes for women when he grows up by and by, and by the lapse of time gets a vote for himself?  Well, we shall see.  But in the meantime questions of housekeeping are fast claiming the centre of the stage in this period of the world's history.  When you think of it, have you never felt a good natured wonder at the way men, for example, as school inspectors, take charge of the nurture and destiny of infants in kindergartens and elsewhere?  We have always felt akin to the lady in the North of Scotland who when threatened with the terrors of the law re compulsory education, which she had broken, replied, "Meat and mirth are a that any bairn needs til it is aucht year auld, and I ken what bairns need better nor any parliament man up in Lunnen."

After all, questions of housing, of cleanliness, of sanitary conveniences, of house water supplied, and many other things, are more questions of housekeeping than anything else and when we have some Canadian women doing municipal housekeeping at first hand, we shall have some reforms that now lag by the way.

I always that that perhaps Billy came from a maternity home. Take the question of maternity homes and their inspection. You need medical and nursing training and experience. You also need what a woman knows about home and babies in order to deal wisely with maternity homes.
